Hadith 3493.

Narrated Abu Hurairah رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ Allah's Messenger said صَلَّى ٱللَّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ سَلَّم , "You see that the people are (like) metals (of different originas and natures). Those who were were the best in the Pre-Islamic Period of Ignorance are also the best in Islam if they comprehend religious knowledge. You see that the best amongst the people in this respect (i.e., amitiion of ruling) are those who hate it most.
